I want to add to the amount of space that a bar goes to as it is hitting the bottom or top of my chart and moving to the next bar. Currently it goes almost all the way to the bottom or top. I went through searching this and can't find anything except for info on fill space on the horizontal right side between my last bar and the right side of my chart. I want to do the same thing except at the top and bottom of my charts. Thanks, Ray Alford |

I am familiar with interactive scaling. However, as soon as I use the mouse to move scale up or down I then have to remember to "reset" the scale or else the bars will run off the chart out of view. Is there a way to use automatic scaling (so bars stay in view) and just add a couple of ticks to the upper and lower spaces that bars go (meaning they don't go right to the upper and lower edges before moving to the next bar). The only studies I have on my charts are moving averages and no other studies below the chart. Thanks, Ray |

Are you using Interactive Scale Move or Interactive Scale Range? What you are describing is Interactive scale Move and not Range. I answered from your last response which seemed to be sending me to the interactive scale compress/expand menu which I'm familiar with. I've described what I'm trying to do which is more like dealing with chart range. Again, I would like to use an automatic setting. Is there a way to use automatic scaling (range as you seem to be saying)so bars stay in view, but just add a couple of ticks to the upper and lower spaces that bars go (meaning they don't go right to the upper and lower edges before moving to the next bar). The only studies I have on my charts are moving averages and no other studies below the chart.

Yes you can you do what you want. When you right-click on the scale on the right side of the chart, is Interactive Scale Range checked/selected?

yes it is... and automatic is checked as well... so, how do I add space to the top/bottom of my chart as described previously?

What happens when you left click and drag the Values Scale on the right side of the chart, in an upward direction? You should see that there is space added above the chart bars and below the chart bars. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. yes, that is correct. But as I described previously, I then have to remember to right click the scale and "reset"... otherwise the bars will run off the chart when there is a significant move up or down. I'm sure that's because moving the scale seems to take it off of automatic. Once reset, however, then as the move continues up or down the latest bar will close right at the bottom/top of my chart. Instead, is there a setting or option to increase the amount of space between the last bar and the bottom/top of the chart.... like I can do with the horizontal fill space option.

This will not happen unless you previously made an Interactive Scale Move adjustment. We know what we are talking about. We know exactly how this works. You can even verify this yourself during a chart replay.Making an Interactive Scale Range adjustment does not remove the Scale Range >>Automatic which still occurs. It actually just adds padding to the top and bottom. Instead, is there a setting or option to increase the amount of space between the last bar and the bottom/top of the chart.... like I can do with the horizontal fill space option. No and there is not a need for this.We recommend that you first reset the scale, then add top and bottom padding with Interactive Scale Range and run a chart replay and you will see that the bars will not get cut off.
