Hello Engineers, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts regarding the sometimes limitation of historical data populated by Interactive Brokers during the initial creation of a chart. Sometimes I will get 2 years of history for my new chart of a newly-requested equity, other times I will get less than a year's worth. I believe my Sierra Chart settings for the retrieval of data are always at a maximum data load, never limited to any date range. I recognize that this may be a question better handled by my brokerage, but I would greatly appreciate your thoughts first. |

PS. I know for certain that the equities to which I referred have been trading much longer than the history supplied by IB. In other words, I can rule out, say, an ETF that just started trading 5 months ago.

We are not going to provide help for this being in your case all of the historical data comes from Interactive Brokers since you are using Sierra Chart service package 1. Our policy on that is here: Interactive Brokers Trading Service: Support Policy Regarding Interactive Brokers Historical Data The proper solution to this is to change to Sierra Chart service package 3 and use the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service: Interactive Brokers Trading Service: Using Sierra Chart Historical Data Once you change to Sierra Chart service package 3, if you have a problem getting insufficient historical data, then we can help with that. We assume you are charting and trading US markets? Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. We just want to be sure the Sierra Chart Historical Data service will provide the necessary data that you need. And it does for US markets. So we recommend changing to Sierra Chart service package 3 following these instructions here: To change your Sierra Chart service package, select "Help >> Account Control Panel" on the Sierra Chart program menu. On the displayed webpage, click on "Change Service Package".
The remaining service usage time on your account will be adjusted based upon the cost of the package you are changing to. If the new package is a higher-priced package, then the usage time will be reduced due to the higher price. There is no charge for changing your Sierra Chart service package. Only your usage time is adjusted. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point.
