I upgraded to SC version 1282 from 1265. Under Tool Settings, I checked Save CTV Window for Each Chart. My chartbook has 6 stock charts tiled vertically so that charts 1, 2, and 3 are at top row, and charts 4, 5, and 6 are at bottom row. See attached image for my chartbook layout. When I maximize a chart and resize it back to tiled size, SC loses the saved CTV window position for the chart. This occurs for all the six charts. At the end of the trading day, I maximize charts of stocks I traded to take a screenshot for my trade review. Also, when I detach and re-attach chart #5, the saved CTV window position for the chart is also lost. This occurs only for chart #5 but not to the other five charts. I detach chart of stocks I trade to bring it to the forefront of the other stock charts and opened time and sales and trade windows opened. I hope you can fix this issue. Thanks. |

This is by design: When I maximize a chart and resize it back to tiled size, SC loses the saved CTV window position for the chart.
It will move relative to the top left of the chart window to maintain its identical position. Also, when I detach and re-attach chart #5, the saved CTV window position for the chart is also lost. We do see a problem with this and we will look into it.

This is by design: When I maximize a chart and resize it back to tiled size, SC loses the saved CTV window position for the chart. It will move relative to the top left of the chart window to maintain its identical position. I always put the CTV window to the upper left hand corner of the chart window. When I maximize and resize back, the CTV windows for the different charts are all over the place, some at the bottom, middle or right side of the chart, and chart #5 is always partially below screen view. I don't understand how they are relative to the top left of the chart. Maybe defaulting near the upper left hand corner of the chart window whether tiled or maximized is a better alternative, in my opinion. |

We cannot duplicate this problem. We positioned the Compact Tool Values window at the top left of the chart and maximized it and restored it and the position was identical relative to the top left. This is on version 1282. Keep in mind this window is saved relative to each chart. So if what you are seeing is different, we have to think about why it would be happening in some cases. I am able to duplicate it all the time. I suggest you save the chartbook with 6 charts then close Sierra Chart. Run Sierra Chart again, open the chartbook. Try checking the positioning of the CTV on the tiled window first, then maximize and check CTV position, then resize back check the position. Do this for all the charts and you'll see the window positioning is inconsistent. I tried this by creating a chartbook and put 6 clean charts with only price and no studies just to eliminate the possibility that the studies I have may be contributing to this issue.

OK we are going to continue to test this and determine what the problem is. One way or another we will solve it.

When retiling chart windows from vertical to horizontal or vice versa the CTW does not retain its position relative to the chart.

What we are observing with post #7 is that chart windows which are tiled and not active, will not have the Compact Tool Values Window repositioned with a tile operation. This we cannot solve and we will not try to solve this. You will have to do a manual reposition. Or use a common location by unchecking Global Settings >> Tool Settings >>Save CTV Window Position for Each Chart. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I know you guys are busy. Any update on this issue with the CTV position? I updated to SC version 1290 and the issue is still there.

Our understanding is the problems are solved. If not, describe what the current issue is with the minimum amount of information. You can just copy and paste what you have written before but just only what currently exists because certainly some problems you originally described were solved. This has been solved: Also, when I detach and re-attach chart #5, the saved CTV window position for the chart is also lost.
But not in the way that you might want. The Compact Tool Values Window will maintain its position it had before before the described operation. This will not change. Therefore, this is considered resolved and no further work will be done. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. The problem remains the same. I believe you are not closing SierraChart, then loading it again. If you fixed the position and don't close SC, then it seems ok. But try closing SC then running it again, and you'll see the problem is back. I am able to duplicate the problem as I mentioned in post #5.

Updated to version 1293 and problem is still there. Just hoping this issue with losing CTV position when maximized and back will get fixed soon.

It's just disappointing that updating to a higher version of SierraChart introduced this CTV display bug that you say is difficult to troubleshoot and fix.

This problem arose when we added the capability to automatically position the Compact Tool Values Window relative to the top left of a chart window. And we have not been able to duplicate the problem you experience and we wonder who else has been experiencing the very same issue that you do. Just give us more time and we will find a solution. Sorry for venting my frustration. I use the CTV a lot and the issue has an effect on my trading. I missed profits in one of my trades because of this. I always position the CTV window to the upper left most part of the chart so it doesn't block the stock chart. After buying a stock, I maximized the stock chart to see intraday support/resistance levels. When I un-maximized the chart back to its regular size in the chartbook and clicked on a price bar to see the high/low price, the CTV window was repositioned and was covering the price bar. I was trying to move the CTV window out of the way but in doing so I didn't realize that I clicked on the target line of my existing position so that when I released the mouse, the target line was moved below the current price and my current trade was immediately closed for a small profit. I was shocked that my trade was closed and didn't understand why my trade was closed. After recalling what I did, I realized that I may have accidentally clicked on the target line and dragged it instead of the CTV window that I wanted to move away. Price went up to my target so I missed the big profit. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2015-09-10 04:21:32

We have done thorough testing and a code review and this problem cannot be duplicated and the functionality works perfectly. 2 programmers worked on this. We did make some minor changes that perhaps might make a difference but probably not. The changes will be released in version 1295. If you still notice the problem, just respond with one single sentence and we will decide how best to help you. But if you do notice the problem, it is clear the issue is system specific and it would not be surprising if there is invalid data being given by your system regarding window coordinates.
