I have two charts that are not linked by anything (though once were by symbol) and both are currently sitting in two separate chartbooks.

when i change the symbol in one, it changes the symbol in the other and vice versa.

for the life of me i cannot figure out why.

any idea how to address this?

Are these by any chance in different instances of Sierra Chart? Or are both chartbooks in the same instance?

Are you using the "Open Chartbook Group" option to open these chartbooks?

They are in one instance. Not using the open chart book group option.

Are you absolutely positive that these charts are actually in two different chartbooks? The option for "Window >> Window Always Visible" can make it look like a chart is part of a different chartbook than it really is.

If the above does not solve this, then please get us both of those chartbooks by following these instructions:

And tell us the chart numbers in each chartbook where you are seeing this occur. We want to see if we can reproduce this, as this should never be possible.

It was two different chart books, but window always visible was selected. I deselected it on one chart book and the chart on the other chartbook deleted when i did this. so that was the issue and it's now resolved.

the prices on the right hand y axis on one of the charts is still blank, strangely when i duplicate this to another chart book, the prices show fine.

i've set scale range to automatic but that doesnt seem to work.

Try resetting the scales - usually this takes care of something like this. Refer to the following:
