Hi there, I'd like to change sim account names from sim1, sim2,... to something else. I read from a support post 9 years ago that said account names couldn't be changed, but it's been a long time since. Is it possible now or no? Thanks. |

You can create another instance of sierra and use Trade Evaluator and add there as many accounts as you need, with names, starting balances, risk management rules, etc. Like a simulation of a real account, should this is what you are looking for. |

Hi @fried4104, I did try Trade Evaluator a.k.a. Simulated Futures Trading (Simulated Futures Trading Service), When I tried to place an order, Trade Service Log would raise the error "Cannot submit non-simulated order when in Trade Simulation Mode", but I couldn't disable Trade Simulation Mode because I was backtesting in Replay. Do you have any idea on this? Thanks. |

The situation you describe is normal. You cannot use the "Trade Evaluator" during a replay. Therefore, you are in Simulation Mode during a replay and can only submit "Simulated" orders using the built-in simulation mode in this case. But, you can use the Trading Evaluator for real-time (or delayed streaming) trading. You cannot change the names of the simulation accounts for the built-in simualtion mode. As fried4104 was pointing out, using the Trading Evaluator allows you to create any account name.

John was trying to change name of sim1, sim2 accounts to a descriptive backtesting strategy and came across this thread. If we can't use the "Trade Evaluator" during replay (as you mention above and does allow changing acct name), however need to run simulations for backtesting I'm finding not being able to change account name to a strategy gets confusing. Example sim1 = breakout_strat sim2 = midday_reversal sim3 = swing_trade Would be much easier to rename the accounts accordingly during backtesting / replays.
