When I try to get a value from a secondary worksheet into the calculation worksheet, ie: AA3, the formulas disappear as the trade data refreshes. Previously I could this.

This problem is because the Formula Source Sheet Number input is set to a different sheet than where you are entering formulas. Refer to this section about this here:

I have tested the following:

If I start a new chart book and then create a spreadsheet study with "Formula Source Sheet Number" set to one - and then add an additional worksheet the formula works fine.

However

If I try to add a spreadsheet study to an existing chart that has 8 different charts in it, the study settings change the "Formula Source Sheet Number" from 1 to 9 and then the formula in the source sheet disappears as before.

You need to make sure the Formula Source Sheet Number is set to be the same as the chart number.

The Formula Source Sheet Number is set to 9, which is also the chart number.

I now found that if I add a 10th worksheet, and reference the formula to that the worksheet, the formula works.

Another thing you need to check is that the sheet that says Sheet9 is actually the ninth sheet counting from the left. If it is not, then this can also be the problem.

We see no reason why there would be this problem, but unless we can interactively work with your setup, it is hard for us to determine what the particular issue is in your case.

If you manually add a sheet to a spreadsheet study's spreadsheet, and then you add a spreadsheet study to a chart# that corresponds to the manually added sheet#, the formulas on the manually added sheet will disappear.

By default the Formula Source Sheet Number matches the Sheet# (tab position from the left) and the Chart#.

If you need a calculation sheet, you can use a standalone spreadsheet: File >> New Spreadsheet
Then reference the spreadsheet study's sheets.
Or manually add a sheet to the spreadsheet study's spreadsheet that has a tab position beyond any potential chart# in your chartbook.
I recommend the former, but it will only work in the Old Spreadsheets versions.
