Hello, Is it at all possible to set up a limit buy order above the current market price and/or a limit sell order below the current market price? I.e. in anticipation of the market reaching that price. Say the market price is 100 and I would like to enter a buy order pending the price reaching 120. In other words I'm not happy buying at the price of 100 and would only buy once it reaches 120. By the same token, say the price is 100 and I would like to sell when it reaches 80 but NOT before! I've tried a number of settings in the trading window but nothing seems to work and the pending orders simply get executed at the market value and... against my will. If there is a setting I could use to do that please can someone explain to me how or point me in the right direction? There's of course reason for everything. I want to be able to set up my orders before the market price reaches certain levels and have them filled ONLY IF a given level is in fact reached and NOT a single moment sooner or later. Please help. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-11-18 16:19:25

You need to enter those orders as a "Stop Limit". A standard Limit will not work as the current price is better and therefore meets the condition. Refer to the following: Order Types: Stop-Limit For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
