Been battling this for so long My weekly number bar chart is not starting a fresh candle today, i always battle this. What setting is wrong, i have screenshotted everything. Best thing i can see is for some reason the start period is May 02 which is a thursday?? How do I fix it and bulletproof it for the future? it constantly messes up on mem without changing anything. 3 screen shots attached. Thanks in advance! |

Make sure you have the option for "New Bar At Session Start" set to "Yes". Refer to the following: Chart Settings: New Bar at Session Start (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Session Times >> Intraday Chart Session Times menu) Although we can not tell from your image, as the dates are not visible, and we can only see one bar, you do need for the first date in your chart to be the start of the week, however, you define that. For instance, since you are looking at CME Futures, you may want the first day loaded in the chart to be a Sunday, so you will then capture all the data starting from the open on Sunday evening through the close on Friday evening. Make sure your Session Times are also correct for the time periods you want included. So yes As i showed in the screenshot, the chart starts on 05/02 which is a thursday, however when i change it to the following Sunday, the changes do not stay, it goes right back to 02. and yes, "start new bar" under session times is set to yes in the screenshot When i Hit "apply" to the date to start, it defaults back to the 02 and not from 05 Ideas? pics below |

You are changing the wrong date entry item. You need to set the option for "Load Data Limiting Method" to "Date Range". Then you can enter the start date of the data to load in the chart and leave the end date as blank in order to get the most current data. Refer to the following: Chart Settings: Load Data Limiting Method (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Date Range and Limiting Method menu) Chart Settings: Load Data Limiting Method: Date Range >> Date Range From / To (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Load Data Limiting Method: Date Range menu) Make sure that the entered start date is the day of the week you want for your starting date. The reason the date you are changing (Date Range in File From) is not changing, is that this is a Futures Contract with a limited start and end date. 5/2/2024 must be the start of the data for that symbol. In order to get additional data going further back, you would need to use a Continuous Futures Contract chart.
