Attach orders to an existing position

I understand this is not yet supported on SierraChart, but wondering if it can be added as it's something a lot of platforms already support.
If there is an open position that has no bracket orders attached to it, today you can add a bracket order (by position or price) but those orders have no parent and are not really attached to the position, so functionalities like "move to breakeven" and "P&L on order line" won't work.

Can we possibly have a feature where you can add brackets to existing position that doesn't have brackets already?

Some platforms are fancy and let you drag/drop (up/down from the position line) on the chart to create a target and a stoploss, but any way to attach brackets to a position would be just fine.

Thank you.

@User303857

Are you saying you're able to use "Move Stop to BreakEven" when you "Send Attached Orders by Price/Position"?!!
That does not work and would be impossible to work, the orders have no parent and have no reference point to "BreakEven" with.

SC Support, will this enhancement ever be considered? i.e. sending attached orders to position actually attaches them so that the functionalities I mentioned earlier would work.

Thank you.

Trade management by study also doesn't work when using "Send Attached Orders".

Please add this as an enhancement. "Send Attached Orders by Position" should actually attach the orders to the position otherwise none of the "attached orders" functionalities would ever work.

We need to think about how to support this.

We are looking this over, and this is supported:
so functionalities like "move to breakeven" won't work.

And the Trade Management by Study does work with attached orders sent by Position and Price.

All of this is fully supported. There are no issues.

We are going to do some additional testing.

Also keyboard shortcuts for moving a Target or Stop Attached Order up and down by one tick, are also fully supported when using Send Attached Orders by Price or Position.

We are looking into supporting the profit/loss calculation on these orders as well. That is should not be difficult to do.

Am I doing something wrong then?
I just tested that on the sim, enter a position with preset attached orders where everything works fine (breakeven, pnl on order lines, trade management by study, etc.), I cancel the attached orders (no working orders at this stage), then do a "Send attached orders by position", do a BE from trade window, nothing happens.

Also trade management by study, ones that do work on the regular attached orders are not working once I send attached orders by position, and to me it makes sense it won't work as it needs a target and a stop while those attached orders aren't labeled as target and stop because they have no parent order to be attached to and be marked as target/stop for that parent.

If you're saying it works fine, then I'm definitely missing something.

Attached orders that are working fine (ones that are set with the main/original order that created the position) have a "Parent Internal Order ID" that is equal to the "Internal Order ID" of the main/original order that created the position.

"Send Attached Order by Position" creates the orders with "Parent Internal Order ID" = 0 and hence no reference to calculate PNL or to do a break even and definitely not have the Trade Management by Study work.

We have to do a remote assistance session with you. Move to breakeven and the Trade Management Study do work with attached orders, sent by Position or Price. A parent order is not required.

Are you sending just a single stop or a single target and not a target and stop?

Also in the next release, the profit/loss will be shown for attached orders that were sent by position or price.

Hi,
It's the same chart, same trade window config, same target/stop config (both target and stop are configured on OCO group#1).

Test#1: Submit market order, position begins, target and stop present, pnl is there on order line, BE from trade window moves stop to position. Everything OK

Test#2: Same trade window config and same target and stop from Test#1, market in, position started, cancel orders, both target and stop are removed and no other working orders. "Send Attached Orders by Position" used, target and stop are created.
Same break even action as test#1 performed, no change to neither the target nor the stop.

Ok, this will help reproduce the issue.
Fresh installation of latest build, default trade window config -- Set it to "Simple Bracket".

The only thing to change is the target, change it from Target:Limit to Target:Limit If Touched - Client.
Leave everything else the same.
1) Market into a position.
2) Cancel all orders.
3) Send Attached orders by Position.
4) BE from trade window. > No change to stop order

This reproduced the issue for me on a fresh install with everything set to default (except the target order type).
In my regular setup, it happens with every target order type but we can start from that example I mentioned and hopefully that would clarify the root cause.

Another setting that has relevancy is this one:
Global Trade Settings Windows: Move to Breakeven (BE) Command (Global Settings >> Chart Trade Settings >> General >> Order Entry)

100%, now we know 2 ways to reproduce this issue.

1) With target of a bracket order set to any "Client" order type.
OR
2) With "Global Settings >> Chart Trade Settings >> General >> Order Entry >> Move to Breakeven (BE) Command" set to "Move All Stop Attached Orders".

Hopefully both would be fixed.

Thank you.

Works like a charm in #2699, PNL on order-line, BreakEven, Trade management by study, all good.
Thank you very much for your support!
