alright lads, i'm using the zig zag tool but it has serious limitations i can't seem to the find the answer for elsewhere...

let me give you an example; let's say i use the tool to draw an upward zigzag pattern with say 3 bull lines and 3 bear lines. that's 6 lines in total.

let's then say i want to move the whole zigzag pattern. i can't move the whole pattern because the zig zag is made up of 6 independent lines. i have to move each line independently with the risk of not being able to replicate the pattern in the new location. it's very cumbersome.

i'd like to be able to group all 6 lines together and move it as a whole but i can't work out how to. i think 'grouping' drawings together would be an excellent feature to your excellent sierra charts program. (i also think if there was the capability of copying a drawing and being able to paste it in say another chart would be the icing on the cake?)

also, rather frustratingly, in the 'manage chart drawings' window, all the lines are listed independently too. it's frustrating for 2 reasons, firstly because the list of drawings in the window becomes very extensive and each one has to be labelled individually and, secondly, if i want to change the colour of the zigzag or the line width as a whole, i have to change each and every line individually.

is there a way around this or another tool you can suggest that allows me to do what i want as listed above please?

There is not a tool that does what you are wanting. The Zig Zag drawing creates separate line drawings, but allows you to string them together. But once drawn, they are individual lines and in no way related to one another.

The only suggestion we have is that if you want to move the lines up/down, then you can use the "Adjust" option on the Manage Chart Drawings Window. You can use the "Multiple Selection" option to select multiple drawings and then adjust them together. Refer to the following:

ok, that's a shame, i know sierra is not a drawing package per se but it would be nice if 'layers' were available meaning you could create a layer then draw in that layer and everything in the layer wold move or hide or change colour. you could have multiple layers that could hide and unhide etc. i've come from a design background and although i love the robustness of sierra i think it could be a lot more stream lined when it comes to drawings, seeing as there are a lot of drawing tools available
