I see how there is a way to set a limit loss based on a daily starting account balance where if that loss amount is hit, positions are auto-liquidated and trading is locked for the day. Is there a way to set a daily limit loss amount that trails realized or unrealized profit? For, example, if the daily limit loss amount is set at -$100 at the start of the day and you make $200 on your first trade and then lose $125 on your next trade, your position would auto-liquidated, and trading would be locked. Also, I'm wondering if there are any more clarification on what each of the profit/loss management options do (ie, Profit Trigger Value, Trigger When Daily Net Profit Increases By, etc.). Ideally, there should be examples of what each of these functions do or short video explanations.

The descriptions for all of the settings for the "Global Profit Loss Management" is at the following link: Global Profit/Loss Management: Control Descriptions There is a way to do what you are wanting, but it only works with absolute numbers. The "Profit Trigger Value" and the "Profit Value After Trigger to Flatten Positions" will do this. For example, if you set your "Profit Trigger Value" to be $200 and then you want to flatten your positions if your profit falls to $75 then you would enter 75 in the "Profit Value After Trigger to Flatten Positions". Thank you. Are the profit/loss management actions executed based on realized or unrealized profit? Also, I watched a video put out by Sierra Chart 5 months ago entitled, "Server Side User Profit/Loss Management," where you can select the trade account and manage the profit/loss setting in a particular account. In this video it says that once this enabled, by selecting "Commit this Tab" it cannot be disabled even by calling your broker. Is that true? If, so this is exactly what I've been looking for. Something that cannot be disabled but restarting Sierra Chart. Also, how do these settings differ from the Global Profit/Loss Management settings? Thank you. |

Both: Are the profit/loss management actions executed based on realized or unrealized profit?
It uses the closed profit/loss plus the open profit/loss. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. How does the Server Side User Profit/Loss differ from Global Profit Loss? Can the Server Side User Profit/Loss be disabled?

We did not yet get to answering the other questions. It is possible at any time to disable the server side profit/loss management functionality before it is triggered. Once it is triggered and positions are closed, then you cannot trade on the account until the next trading day which will be starting at 6 PM Eastern time. The server-based profit/loss management functionality is very reliable and stable. It provides the same functionality as Global Profit/Loss Management within Sierra Chart. When I set the server side user profit/loss management settings it is not being triggered when my balance drops below the "loss trigger value." In order for this functionality to work correctly does the current selected server have to be "Trading Evaluator?" When I set the selected server to "Trading Evaluator, my trading accounts are not listed under the "Trade Account Monitor/Balance" menu. When I set the selected server to "Teton CME Order Routing," my trading accounts are listed under the "Trade Account Monitor/Balance" menu. When I select the account and "Edit Trade Account" under the "Manage" Menu and set the "loss trigger value in account currency" to $500, it is not being triggered when my balance drops $500 below the starting balance after selecting, "commit this tab." Does the loss trigger value have to be -$500 with a minus sign in front to be triggered? Thank you.

Who is your futures broker? And what is the clearing firm. We will let you know if the feature is supported with them. The loss trigger value does not have to be entered as a negative number. It can be either positive or negative. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. I have AMP and Ironbeam brokers. Is the Server Side User Profit/Loss Management functionality available with AMP and Ironbeam? If not, which brokers support this feature?

No not at this time. It is only supported with Stage 5. And the Trading Evaluator service.
