Symbol Settings Problems

1. How does one search the symbol settings for the symbol one needs to adjust important settings for quickly, without manually scrolling through thousands of symbols?

2. Where is the 6J Yen futures symbol? Is there a reason it is not grouped with the 6J futures spread and 6J futures option? And that pressing '6' does not let one find it?

3. How can one filter these to show futures only, to make all this easier and not force futures traders to look through every stock, cfd, fx symbol?

1. You can type in the name of the symbol and the system will jump you to the first symbol that matches the entered letters.

For instance, if you type in 'E-S', then you will be taken to the first symbol that starts with the letters ES.

2. Everything in the Symbols list in the Symbol Settings is ordered in alphabetical order. For instance, we see the following for 6J:
6J33-6J?##.FUT_SPREAD.CME
6J?##-CME
6J~.FUT_SPREAD.CME

But what you will see will depend on the "Current Selected Service" you are set to. So you need to find the appropriate entry for 6J based on the actual symbol you would use for it in a chart.

3. There is not a way to filter the list of symbols.

6J future was under JPY for IB, but the future option and spread are still under 6J.

Can you add a way to filter these? Or make a 'watchlist' of only the symbols one trades mostly, to change settings quicker/easier? It wuld save a lot of time/make symbol settings easier to use.

There is not a way to filter or create a watchlist.

We take all suggestions for improvement, but we can not say when we would get to any particular item.

Could there be a way to universally reset all individual by symbol trade position limits and order position limits to default without overriding other symbol settings?

You can do direct editing of the Symbol Settings XML files. Refer to:
Global Symbol Settings: Direct Editing of Global Symbol Settings through Underlying File

You can then use an advanced text editor like Notepad ++ and do find and replace operations.
