Hello, Want to clarify how the MIT order executes. In the order description page it’s written MIT order will become a market order when the price is touched. And in the page where its explained how orders are filled, it’s written when the price touched the order fills at Ask price for a Buy MIT / Bid price for a Sell MIT |

All orders fill at either the Ask or Bid price (depending on whether it is a Buy or a Sell). This is how the markets work. So when your MIT order is touched, it will fill at the appropriate price for what you are doing (buying or selling)

Market order is an instruction to fill my order immediately at any price until my given order quantity is filled. I can expect slippages here. An order (for eg. BUY at ASK) that is supposed to be filled at ASK price, should only fills at that ASK price, if it doesn't it becomes a limit order at that ASK price. I do not expect slippages here. There is difference between a market order and a order that is supposed to be filled at either ASK or BID price. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2024-02-21 15:59:28

Can I get a response here? Also, Do I expect any delays in using client side orders? Although Im optimist that there shouldn’t be any considerable delay but just want to make sure. |

We see you are using Interactive Brokers. Contact Interactive Brokers about this. We cannot answer further questions about this. This is outside the scope of our support. Some delay but it will be small. It depends upon the amount of time it takes to transmit the order over the network: Do I expect any delays in using client side orders?

I have confusion in what you’ll have written in your two different descriptions pages, which is what Im seeking clarification for above. I think i did not convey that properly. Anyways here’s the two links: Order Types: Market If Touched This is a standard Market If Touched (MIT) order type.
In the case of a Buy MIT order, it will become a Market order when the last trade price is equal to or less than the Trigger Price. In the case of a Sell MIT order, it will become a Market order when the last trade price is equal to or greater than the Trigger Price. Trade Simulation: Market If Touched Orders Market If Touched Orders
[Link] - [Top] A Buy Market If Touched order will only be filled when the current Last trade price is equal to or less than the Trigger price. And it will be filled at the Ask price when this condition is met. A Sell Market If Touched order will only be filled when the current Last price is equal to or higher than the Trigger price. And it will be filled at the Bid price when this condition is met. |
