I like the Gann fan tool for squaring a range. But how can I simply add Gann angles from a high or low without selecting a range? I have attached a picture to clarify. Thanks in advance. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-08-06 16:22:16

We are not understanding this. Here is the documentation for the Gann Fan tool: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_Tools.html#GannFanTool Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Basically, I want to select a single point (and not a range like the tool forces you to select) and to have Gann angles projected from that point. I do not want to square a range. I want to select a single point. The addition of this to SC would allow users to square a high/low and to square a range (the latter is already there but not the former)

Cant you use the program the photo was taken from ? I think different software uses gann differently. Ninja calculates off a single point I believe. Multicharts needs two points. I am not sure why it is done differently since I thought it was based on high - low. |

thanks but 2 points squares a range. i want to also square a high or a low alone without selecting a range. if you could add this feature, I would be most appreciative as would any Gann trader. an important piece of the toolkit is missing. the private image is from one of my kindle books using tradestation (private to avoid copyright issues). thanks.

hi yes, I see what you mean. Did you try changing the settings for gann tool configuration ? |

yes but it doesnt fix it. the tool still needs two points to be selected. I only want to select one point. If I set both points of the range at the same point I get a flat line.

We have looked into this, and only the first point is used in the calculations. We have updated the documentation for this here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_Tools.html#GannFanTool This is the relevant part of the documentation: The direction and number of bars from the first point to the second point only establishes the direction of the fan lines, whether the lines are sloping up or down, and the internal ending point of the extending fans lines. Otherwise, it is not used in the calculations.
