I can't get the bar period to show a 100ms interval. I have successfully entered this interval as bar period (this interval shows up in the chart tab), but every bar is only 1 second. I have "data/trade service" intraday storage unit set to "1 tick." All my recurring subscriptions are up to date.

I have spent some time searching for solutions but no luck yet. Help please.

If you entered your Bar Period correctly in the Chart Settings (0-0-0-100) then our guess is that you are getting 100ms bars, but the scale is only showing 1 second intervals. To show the millisecond (and microsecond) you need to set the option for "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Scale >> Include Microseconds on Intraday Chart Timescale" to "Yes".

OK I tried that and now the scale shows times such as 12:45:59.0000000 but the bars are still 1 second, although strangely some of them are 2 and 3 second intervals. I have tried this on different instruments and opening new charts but with the same results.

Sierra Chart will not draw a new bar based on time; a new bar is only drawn if there is new data with a new timestamp.

However, you can make some changes with these settings:
Chart Settings >> Bar Period tab>> Chart Bar Settings

I changed the "bar period" tab, setting "include columns with no data" to "Yes."

Wow thank you very much! That "worked" but it raises a few questions. Is Sierra Chart not receiving any data at the millisecond time interval? Same question for why there isn't any data for 1-2 seconds on the YM in the middle of the day?

Is this because it is a candlestick chart and there is no price change for the lower time frame?

If there is no volume, there is no new data.
It is entirely possible that volume does not occur every millisecond, or even every second.

I changed the "bar period" tab, setting "include columns with no data" to "Yes."
With a time-based bar period, that setting will draw a bar after the fact, to fill in bars where there were no data.

USer 394081 - FYI

to fill in bars where there were no data.
just be careful drawing "fake" bars to fill in gaps when there is no underlying data. Especially for algos which trigger on candle close, there will be slippage and/or fake signal generated either intentionally or unintentionally.
Filling gaps are great for the visual.
