unable to trade when connected to IB TWS

Hi, I have just purchased Denali data feed to trade through IB. I'm logged into IB TWS (paper trading account) and I have followed the instructions for setting up IB and selected IB in Data/Trade Service setting, but I am unable to place orders from charts in SC even though I selected my IB account in the trade window. I also cannot switch off Trading Simulation mode. Thank you

What exactly occurs when you turn of "Trade Simulation Mode"?
