I've transitioned to Denali with IB for trade service after following the instructions on the Denali page. I assume everything is ok as I can see the [M] in the chart header and chart data is updating real time. However, when I shut down TWS, the chart stops updating and I get the Service Connection Error message. Does this mean I must be connected to TWS at all times to get new data, even if I just want to review charts and not trade? Should I be connecting to SC data in these instances instead? My setup has multiple workbooks for each instrument (per below) so wondering how I best do this with Denali and IB. - 1 workbook for live trading (ie with IB) - 1 workbook for offline chart analysis - 1 workbook for replay/practice - 1 workbook for live sim trading Do I need another instance of SC when I'm connected to IB for live trading and connect to SC data for the rest in the main instance? Lastly, there are some Asian markets I connect to with IB for data & trading. Will I have to run a separate instance of SC to the one I am using with Denali and IB? |

Yes - in order to get the data, Sierra Chart needs to be able to connect to the trading service that is specified, even if the data is coming from us. Therefore, the easiest solution is to keep the TWS software running when you are using Sierra Chart so you are always connected. But, if, for whatever reason, you do not want to keep the TWS software running - then you can switch the connected service to "SC DAta - All Services" and then you will be able to get the data into the system without the need for the TWS software. But, this uses different symbols, so you will need to change the symbols for your charts. Do I need another instance of SC when I'm connected to IB for live trading and connect to SC data for the rest in the main instance?
The above is the solution we would recommend. Have one instance connected to IB and another connected to "SC Data - All Services", so you don't have to worry about switching services and updating symbols. Refer to the following for how to install a second Sierra Chart: Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time: Step-By-Step Instructions to Install Multiple Copies of Sierra Chart Lastly, there are some Asian markets I connect to with IB for data & trading. No - you do not need to do anything special with this. Any data that you are not set to get from us, will come from IB. So use the IB instance to open the charts for those markets using the IB symbols and the data will come from IB.
