Automatically re-set order configuration on 'flatten'

Hello Support,

Is there any way to automatically re-set a saved order configuration after pressing the 'flatten' button on the trade window when trading futures?

For instance, if I've entered a trade and been able to scale out some contracts (from a trade that worked initially) but then needed to quickly cut and re-enter, I have a really problematic issue with not having enough time to re-set the pre-saved order configuration and so I end up re-entering with a smaller size than required (because the window is stick stuck on the number of contracts used to scale out of the previous trade).

If there is a setting to automatically switch back to the saved order configuration size whenever 'Flatten' is pushed, that would be a huge help.

E.g. I have a pre-saved order configuration size = 10 contracts, I scale out 5 contracts, press 'flatten' and it would be really great if the order size immediately and automatically reverts back to 10 so I can quickly re-enter if required with the required order size (rather than the current setting which will re-enter me on 5 contracts rather than the required 10).

This has been a problem for some time and I'd hugely appreciate a solution.

Kind regards

ND

There is not a built-in way to do this. You would have to create a custom study to do exactly what you want.

But, there are keyboard shortcuts you can create for different "Trade Window Configurations", so you could use one of these to quickly change the configuration to be what you want. Refer to the following:
Global Settings Menu: Customize Keyboard Shortcuts (Global Settings menu)

Ah, thank you John.

Just so I understand: I have found the 'Trade Window Configurations Keyboard Shortcuts' I can see there are options for up to 32 different 'configs' - are these the saved configurations that are listed in the dropdown menu at the top of the attached trade window? If not, how do I map the keyboard shortcuts to these?
Much appreciated,
ND

Hi John,

I've assigned this as directed, but nothing happens when I press 'shift +1'. I'm expecting this to trigger the first saved order configuration in my trade window drop down menu - is this correct?
Have I missed a step?

Kind regards,

ND

You first need to configure the Control Bar buttons for the configurations you want to use:

Hi John,

Thanks for sticking with me here: I've done all of that 'Control Bar Trade Window Configuration Buttons' list down t step 8 and I see the TWC1 on my control bar, but the keyboard short cut still isn't working? I've checked it is assigned correctly and trading keyboard shortcuts is enabled. I'm only using a standard OS (Windows 11) so I'm still unsure of what the problem is?

This is a huge problem I've struggled with for months and months so I really appreciate your patience with me to get this finally sorted.

Kind regards

Just to make sure, when you were setting up the Control Bar button for the Trade Configuration - did you select the "Customize" button and assign the specific Trade Configuration to the Control Bar button?

If so, then as long as that control bar button is still added to a control bar (even one that is not displayed) then a keyboard shortcut for the same number should work.

Hi John,

Thanks for bearing with me (back from Holiday now).

Yes, I believe I have done all required steps - I've tried to visualize this in the attached screenshot. Still nothing happening??

If it helps - the default keyboard shortcuts for basic chart functions e.g. pressing 'end' to go to the end of a chart works fine, so I don't think this is a matter of keyboard commands per se not working on my system.

Really appreciate any help on a detail I could have missed.

Thanks again

Hi John,

Sincere apologies - I've just figured out how this works - there is a separate command for placing the order and a separate command for selecting the trade configuration - apologies, I thought that the keyboard commend for selecting the trade configuration also placed the trade - my mistake and I'm sorry for the confusion. All good now.

All the best
