Hello need help with Rollover Symbol option. When I rollover all my drawings shift. My lines and ellipse dont retain their positions. I noticed it on my 256 tick chart. Secondly. Im not sure why I'm being prompted to rollover, especially when I am using a September period (CLU23) and we are still in August. |

Everything will shift if you are using a "Back Adjusted" continuous futures contract chart type. Refer to the following: Continuous Futures Contract Charts: Continuous Futures Contract - Date Rule Rollover, Back Adjusted From the CME Group for CL: "Trading terminates 3 business day before the 25th calendar day of the month prior to the contract month. If the 25th calendar day is not a business day, trading terminates 4 business days before the 25th calendar day of the month prior to the contract month." https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/energy/crude-oil/light-sweet-crude.contractSpecs.html For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Hello Im not quite following your explanation about the "back adjustment". Are you saying, that I need to enable something, in the chart setting, to stop the lines I have drawn from moving? Or are you saying there is no way to stop the lines from shifting after rolling over. Is it best practice to have a chart per contract period? |

What we are stating is that due to Back Adjustment, the lines are going to move, as the prices for the data from that time has moved (up or down based on the Back Adjustment amount). Therefore, if you do not want the drawings to move, you will need to not use a Back Adjusted Continuous Futures Contract Chart type.
