I have a Drop Down Menu on the Control Bar and have all 3 charts in the Chartbook linked with symbol and Trade/Quote Symbol. I have my charts for ESU23-CME but have the trade symbol as MESU23-CME. When I use the drop down menu and change the symbol to CLU23-NYMEX or NQU23-CME, the trade symbol stays as MESU23-CME. If I go to Chart Settings and change the Trade/Quote symbol for CLU23-NYMEX to MCLU23-NYMEX, then when I switch back to ESU23-CME the Trade/Quote symbols stays as MCLU23-NYMEX. Shouldn't the Trade/Quote symbol selected as yes in the linking tab change the trade symbol?

Also, is there a way to change the symbol with the drop down menu for multiple Chartbooks at once?

Thanks

Extraordinarily I was coming to the support board to search/and or request this exact feature and this was at the top.

The ability to 'link' a trade symbol to another contract. Example selecting any new symbol in Quoteboard linked with charts will swap between symbols AND trade/quote.

Eg.

ES_U -> MES_U
CL_U -> MCL_U
NQ_U -> MNQ_U

There are two things you want to do. First, set the option for "Chart >> Chart Settings >> Trading >> Clear Trade and Current Quote Symbol on Symbol Change" to "Yes". Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Clear Trade and Current Quote Symbol on Symbol Change (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Trading menu)

In order to get a specific "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" when you change symbols for a chart, you need to enter the "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" you want in the Symbol Settings for the main symbol. For example, if you want MESU23-CME to always be the Trade and Current Quote Symbol for an ESU23-CME chart, then enter "MESU23-CME" in the "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" entry in the Symbol Settings for ESU23-CME. Refer to the following instructions:
Global Symbol Settings: Instructions

Just be aware that when you change the symbol settings, this will ALWAYS set the Trade and Current Quote symbol for that main symbol when you are changing the symbol or when opening a new chart.

@John

Sorry for posting it here, but wanted to bring up a feature request, strongly related to this topic: Chart Linking Option: Symbols List.

In our group, we are using several chartbooks with several charts in each.

All of them are using the exact same list of futures contracts, and all of the charts use the same chart linking (usually Link #1). So every chartbook can easily share a standard symbol list and all chartbooks can be uniformly operated using the Control bars' SymbolList Dropdown menu, which is way more convenient than displaying an extra quoteboard to control symbols.

The problem is when it is time to update the symbol list at/after expiration.
It is always a painful and very long process (not rarely taking up to 1+ hour) because of the large number of symbols included in the symbol list.

After manually updating an existing symbol list and saving it with a new name, first the existing symbol lists should be manually removed from each chart, and at the same time the new symbols should be manually imported into the watchlist of every single charts in every chartbooks.

We already requested this in the past, but posting it here again:

Can you please consider adding the 'Chart Linking Option: SymbolList' to SC? Then using the 'master mode' option in the linking section would reduce the long updating time to a couple of simple clicks.

Thank you in advance.

We certainly understand what you are looking for TicinoTrader, and we have set this as a Feature Request. As I always state though, we can not say when we can get to any particular request.

We will do this, within a few weeks.
