I've been trying to find a file or some way to open the ES contracts from a year ago. what would be the most efficient way to perform this other than utilizing continuous contracts because when doing so I can only view that far back on macro charts like the Daily and Weekly

To begin with, you can view back multiple years with an Intraday Chart using the Continuous Futures Contract. Just set the Days to Load to what you need and it will load that data. It looks like you are setup with Rithmic, in which case you can only go back 5 years, as they use a single digit year. But, if you want to see the specific contract, just type in the name of the symbol in the Find Symbol window and open a chart for it. For example, to get the June contract for the ES from 2022, you would enter ESM2.CME for the symbol.
