when using non-simulated (live) account, how is the PositionQuantity in ACSIL determined? Is it a sum of what I currently have under fills in the trade activity log?

For a symbol, is the PositionQuantity in ACSIL the same as the Quantity column in Trade Orders and Positions under the Positions tab?

so in the case of live trading and if I have Trade->Use Fill Calculated Positions Global disabled, all position size related info is from whatever the broker provides?

Yes, but there is also the chart specific Use Order Fill Calculated Position. This needs to be disabled as well. This is explained here:

great.

In the trade activity log there is a column Position Quantity.
Each row has a timestamp so the row reflects what SC had at that point in time as the current Position Quantity from the trade service?

Does the position size get updated periodically or just when a trading related event happens? Or both?

Yes. That is a very reliable field assuming the Trade Service is providing accurate position data.

The Trade Position is only updated when there is an order fill. There might be a periodic update which happens after 4 to 6 hours but we have to check on that. Certainly a reconnection to the server will cause an update of the trade position data.
