Trying to simply overlay the OHLC candles from A D1 chart onto 15m chart (both set to Intraday data type). Overlay bars (non-sync) is not working. Please advise.

Also, Study/Price Overlay for ABVD Bars in region 3 from D1 chart comes over as simple vertical lines instead of candles. How to make it look like the source? Thanks in advance. |

1. Solved with Study/Price Overlay> Use Latest Value, Containing Match; Subgraphs> Candlestick Bars, Width OHLC = 5-2-10-10 2. still not resolved |

Have you tried the Study/Price Overlay for situation 2? In general, that is the study to use to overlay information from one chart to another.

Same result for me with SPOL (thin lines) unless I turn off Use Styles and Widths from Source Study. However, the volume overlay just above it has this setting on (but it draws a bar, not a candle). The problem is, I see no way to control the overlaid ABVD bar wicks on the Subgraphs, but the high-low can be adjusted, obscuring the wicks). Is there a way to see the wicks at any width? Thanks |

In order to get the Candlestick bars to display properly, you need to set the Input for "Draw Zeros" to "Yes". This is because the Open of each bar is the value of 0. But, in doing this, you create a situation where the Input for "Fill Blanks with Last Value" when set to "No" is no longer valid, as the bars that were hidden were done so by setting their values to 0. Therefore, you may want to change the input for "Fill Blanks with Last Value" to "Yes", so at least the bars are repeating instead of just being zeros. Ok, attached is the result of adjusting those 2 settings. So is there no way to get a proper candle bar overlay of a study like ABVD? |

For this particular case, since the Ask Bid Volume Difference bars always have an Open price of zero, and because you want to see these as Candlesticks, you have this issue. Note that the way that subgraph data is "hidden" in Sierra Chart is to set the value to 0, and then not display the zero values. But you need the zero values in this case. A possible solution would be to use the "Color Bar Based on Alert Condition" and check the Bar Start Time and color any bar in the "Study/Price Overlay" that is not at the start of the session the same as the background. The Alert Condition would look like the following for your case: =AND(OR(HOUR(BARTIME) <> 8, MINUTE(BARTIME) <> 30), OR(HOUR(BARTIME) <> 16, MINUTE(BARTIME) <> 15)) We are not certain of your RTH start time, so we assumed 08:30 - adjust as necessary. No. This doesn't provide display of any kind of adjustable-width candle. So do we conclude that indicator candles cannot be overlaid from one chart to another? This would be a limitation for sure.

It can be done with the Spreadsheet Study study, referencing the Study/Price Overlay study, as in the attached pic. If you want details, post again. |

Thanks Tom, that looks similar to SC’s solution. It doesn’t look like a candle. I imagine a candle the same size as the overlaid volume bars, drawn at the beginning of the bar, with adjustable width. Forgive my programming ignorance but it seems that SPOL could offer a more appropriate way to draw an overlaid candle. It works fine for volume bars. |

The wicks could be made to draw at the center of the wider candle body.I imagine a candle the same size as the overlaid volume bars, drawn at the beginning of the bar, with adjustable width.
Post a pic of what you imagine.

Tom- exactly like in my first post, in the lowest subgraph on the left. This is the source display and it would make sense to be able to match it (by default even). Cheers

How to do what you want is not immediately apparent. I might not be possible with native studies, and would require a custom study. |

Sierra, it is unfortunate that SPOL fails to provide anything close to the expected solution in this instance. One would think that by default it would bring over the original study result, displaying it as the source chart does.
