I have a vol by price study right-aligned and I have hidden the actual volume bars and just display volume numbers in bars (bid % and ask%). Is there a way to highlight the background if percentage is over 70% on bid side? Not sure if that's an option within this study?

There is not an option within the Volume by Price study to do what you are wanting.

The Volume at Price Threshold Alert V2 can give you the information, but you would have to use another chart that is set to the same time period as the Volume by Price study to get the same results. Refer to the following:

I can't figure out how to display the alert correctly? If I set ask % above 90 to be highlighted you can see it's highlighting more prices than that? Can you help?

Sorry, we did not realize that there were not exact matches to the calculations when we told you to use the Volume at Price Threshold Alert V2. The Volume at Price Threshold Alert V2 has a Ratio of Ask Volume to Bid Volume (so just the two divided by each other), but the Volume by Price does not have this option, it uses a percentage based on the total volume at that price, so for the Ask percent it is: Ask/(Bid+Ask).

If you really are wanting to use the Volume by Price calculation method, then there is an option, but you have to create a lengthy Alert condition, and depending on how many price levels you are checking, you may not be able to do it.

Let us know and we will point you in the direction.

OK yeah, I thought the calculations were different. I just want to highlight/alert the price levels where the Volume by Price (percentage of bid/ask based on the total volume at that price) is 70% or higher, either on bid or ask side. Is that possible with an alert?

Use the Volume at Price Threshold Alert study:
Volume at Price Threshold Alert V2

And refer to this information about the Percentage Threshold Input:

Percentage Threshold: This sets the percentage threshold when the Comparison Method Input is set to Ask Volume Bid Volume Ratio or Ask Volume Bid Volume Diagonal Ratio. 1 equals 1%. 100 equals 100%.

When this Input is set to a positive value, only those ratios in which the Ask Volume is dominant (the Ask Volume is greater than or equal to the Bid Volume) that meet or exceed the Percentage Threshold Input will provide an indication and generate an alert.

When this Input is set to a negative value, only those ratios in which the Bid Volume is dominant (the Bid Volume is greater than the Ask Volume) that meet or exceed the Input will provide an indication and generate an alert.

Example: When using Ask Volume Bid Volume Ratio, Ask Volume is 100 and Bid Volume is 50. The ratio is 2. This is going to be equivalent to 200%. To get an alert in this case, you would set the Percentage Threshold Input to 200.

To get visual indications and an alert when either the Ask side is dominant and meets the Percentage Threshold, or the Bid side is dominant and meets the Percentage Threshold, you need to add two instances of the Volume at Price Threshold Alert V2 study and use a positive Percentage Threshold Input with one instance of the study and a negative Percentage Threshold Input with the other instance of the study.
