Spreadsheet Study Saved without pressing Save

Hi, have a chartbook with attached spreadsheet study. I did some experiments in spreadsheet study / changing some cells etc. then decided that is not what i need. closed cbook and pressed "NO"when it asked if i wanna save it. reopened cbook to go back to the old work - and it is gone. Spreadsheet study which is in scss file was saved. Why does it save if i did not click save. is it a system glitch? i did not press Save All and I did not press Yes when closing Cbook - yet it got saved. nightmare now going back...can u assist?
