Are submitted orders that haven't triggered yet held on a local or external server?

When I submit a stop limit order for a price that hasn't been hit yet, where is the submitted order being held? Just on my computer/client/local side until it is triggered? Or is the order as soon as it is created being held on an external server somewhere so when it triggers it is not limited by my personal computer speed/internet connection? Thanks |
