Hello, I really like how the initial balance (1st hour of RTH trading session) is shown on the market profile charts (picture 1). I wonder if there is any way I could highligh the Initial Balance on a similar way on for example a normal 1min chart (picture 2), instead of having to draw lines that make my charts less cleaner. Thank you |

The Initial Balance is just the High and Low of the time period over which you are interested. For instance, if you want the first hour of the Regular Trading Hours, then you would want the Highest High and the Lowest Low from 08:30 to 09:29:59 Central US time for a CME Group futures product (such as ES). To do this, use the High Low for Time Period - Extended study. Refer to the following: High/Low for Time Period - Extended For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Perfect. I have now the Initial balance set up as high low for time period. But how can I costumize the draw style so it show on a regular intraday chart like on a market profile chart? Thank you |

We assume that what you mean is that you want to have the Initial Balance display across the entire day's bars. To do this, you will need to add the Spreadsheet Study to your chart and then in cell K3 put in the following: =MOSTRECENTNONZEROVALUE(AA3:AA1000) And in cell L3 put the following: =MOSTRECENTNONZEROVALUE(AB3:AB1000) Where AA and AB are the columns that contain the High/Low for Time Period study subgraphs (you will have to change this for your situation). Then set the Spreadsheet Study to be in Region 1, and set the Draw Style for the K and L columns to Dash and set the colors as you want. Then set the High/Low for Time Period study to be Hidden (enable the Hide option on the settings window). The one thing that you might have to do is to increase the Number of Rows on the Spreadsheet Study in order to cover the amount of data you have in the chart. You will want the Number of Rows that you set to match the ending range in the MOSTRECENTNONZEROVALUE() function. For example, if you change the number of rows to 5000, then you will need to change the ending range in the MOSTRECENTNONZEROVALUE() to be AA5000 (or AB5000). Thank you John for taking your time to do this! Just to mention, my programming skills are low. You can see all the steps I followed in pictures so it takes 10s for you to check if I did somwthing wrong or see what I am missing, as of now nothing appears on my charts. See pictures attached. Thank you |

We realized that we had completely forgotten about the Initial Balance study. This should do what you want rather than the other items that I had mentioned. That's good. I already knew about the study and was using it. The issue is: How can I use a draw style that makes it able to have a chart set up so I can have a Y axis line like on the market profile? As I explained on the 1st message. Thank you for your time John |

Sorry, we went a long way around on this. We did not realize it was just the horizontal line denoting the height of the IB. There is not really a way to do this. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Understood, thank you. And if I track the initial balance as a horizontal line, is there anyway to hide that line for the 1st hour of the session? Thank you |

Sorry, we are not understanding the question, as the answer would depend on how you are creating the line in the first place.

For example, the initial balance is the 1st hour of RTH session and it tracks two horizontal lines one on the bottom and another one on the top, as price moves higher or lower the price keeps changing until it stays after 60min. I would like that during the first hour the line is not shown on the charts. It¡s only shown after the first hour has passed (but it still highlights the high and the low of the first hour. Thank you |

The study is not setup to do this. You would have to modify the code in order to get that specific change. An alternative would be to use the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition study and have the alert be based on the times (i.e. it is checking bars between the times of the Initial Balance) and then have it set the color of the Initial Balance study to be the same as the background. Refer to the following: Color Bar Based on Alert Condition A few notes on this: - The Color Bar Based on Alert Condition would have to be lower in the list of studies in order for it to be drawn after the Initial Balance, which is necessary in order to see it. - You would need to set the Draw Style for the Color Bar subgraph to be the same as the Draw Style for the Initial Balance.
