I am ordering a Lenovo P1 Gen 5 with a 12th gen i7-12800H vPro Processor with Intel Iris gfx and 16gb of ram I read somewhere that it is best to install SC on a separate ssd. So should I order this with two 512GB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 Performance TLC Opal drives or go for the Raid 0 config with 2 of the same drives? And will this make any difference to me as I only load 7 days of data on 1 chart with only 2 basic studies? Should I just get 1 sdd and not waste cash needlessly? 2 major things that contribute to the slowness are, 'Chart Update Intervals" (i.e. less than 50 ms) and 'Intraday Data Storage Time Unit' (1-sec would use way less resources than 1-tick), I am using 200 ms intervals and 1-sec data unit, my computer is close to 9 years old, and runs SC fast and smoothly with one chart, 10 days and 5 studies (CPU usage below 5%) Sorry, not able to answer your hardware questions, sounds like overkill to me :) |

Yeah, my SC runs like lightning on my current system at 10ms and 1 tick data. It uses no more than 35mb of ram and CPU less than 5% but I'm getting a new computer as the one I am using I bought in an emergency last month and it wont run my photo software. It's an brand new cheapest one in the store that they had there and then Lenovo Intel pentium silver 4 core with 4gig of ram that cost £200 but seen as I'm getting a new one I thought I'll optimise it for SC but wasnt sure what improvements could actually be made. This only takes like 1 second to load data when I boot SC. If I can get that down to a blink of an eye then all good =] Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-02-22 03:30:49

Overkill for SC. The only other consideration would be the speed of your wireless network adapter card and USB. Older models would limit the high speed internet connection (if you have one at gig speed for live trading). If there is no slippage or network latency, you should be fine with the older model. Regardless of SC, it simply rocks to have a SSD drive.
