On some of my TradeDOMs there are small/short red and green bars present indicating the current best bid and best ask prices.

Where do I set this or turn it on or off?

Oh!!! . . . I see . . .

The Chart >> Show Bid and Ask Lines option is not available for a chart that is detached from the chartbook. Most of my TradeDOMs are detached and located on a second display monitor.

I have to do a Window >> Detach/Attach Chart Window first, to re-attach the chart to the chartbook. Then, I can use the Chart >> Show Bid and Ask Lines option. Then, I detach the window and it goes right back to the same location where I had it before I re-attached it. Cool beans!

Thanks.

I really, really like the Dom Graph.

Is there a way to reference the bid/ask level with the greatest volume?

Specifically, I want to assign an audio alert/millisecond sound when the big bid is on the best bid, and a different audio alert when the big offer is on the best offer.

Thank you.

I was able to create audible and visual alerts using a spreadsheet and the "Depth of Market Data" study.

Thank you - SC is super awesome!

Hello SC,

Is there a setting to allow the Depth of Market to stay current on a Chartbook that is loaded, but not visible. When moving through the chartbooks with F7/F8, the best prices are not current and it requires a new tick up/down to refresh the ChartDOM.

Whether a chart is visible or not, all of the market data for it will be kept up-to-date.

What do you mean by "best prices"?

I have 5 chartbooks open. One of the main charts has an active ChartDOM showing 10 levels of depth. When I switch away from an active Chartbook, that ChartDOM will no longer update on that chart.

If I return to that Chartbook in 10 minutes, the ChartDOM is in the last place I saw it even though price has moved away. It will take another trade for the ChartDOM to move to the location of Best Price.

This started happening just after SC v1000 and it didn't bother me until now... Now I have audio alerts tied to Big Bid resting on Best Bid and Big Offer resting on Best Offer... and the audio alerts don't go off on any Chartbook except the currently visible Chartbook.

I figured you were doing it to save bandwidth... for example: minimized ThinkorSwim charts do not update in the same manner.

Technically there is absolutely no reason why this would happen. We have never heard of this or seen this. We have done a test now . We do not see this kind of behavior at all. And there is no technical reason for this to happen.

It makes no sense and we have performed the test now using an Alert Condition Formula which uses the bid price. We switched to another Chartbook with no charts visible and we continue to get alerts from the formula.

In older versions of Sierra Chart, market depth updates would have been stopped for the symbol if there is no visible market depth display for the symbol. But this was removed in recent versions and this would have no effect upon the last trade price or the best bid and ask data. Only the levels of depth beyond the best bid and ask. Make sure you are on the current version of Sierra Chart.

What Data or Trading service are you using? We see you are subscribed to the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed. Do you see a [M] after the symbol at the top line of the chart.

SC v1137. This started happening after crossing the v1000 series.

We have no explanation for this. Once again, we cannot duplicate the problem and we see no technical reason for this.

What we want you to do is close all of your charts. And reconnect to the data feed with the Disconnect and Connect commands on the File menu.

Open a single Chart without any studies and open a market depth window through File >> Open Market Depth Window.

Create a new Chartbook with File >> New Chartbook.

Wait about a minute and then switch back to the first Chartbook. Is the market depth current?

When you perform the test we described above, make sure there are no studies on that chart.

And also update Sierra Chart to the current version as well.

Hello SC,

I did not run the tests as you requested and have been living with the issue.

Today I observed the following entries in the Message Log when tabbing between chartbooks.

Each time I leave a chartbook, it "unsubscribes" from that symbol and begins requesting symbol updates from the chartbook that has been selected.

In some older versions of Sierra Chart this would happen but this will not occur in recent versions. There is nothing currently in the code which will cause this.

Please confirm again with us what version of Sierra Chart you are running.

Apparently that version will stop market depth updates when switching away from a Chartbook that uses market depth and no other charts in the current Chartbook require depth for the symbol. Update Sierra Chart by selecting Help >> Download Current Version.

We did state this previously:

Make sure you are on the current version of Sierra Chart.

And also update Sierra Chart to the current version as well.

We have no doubt that when you update, this problem will be resolved.
