Choosing to NOT save the chartbook on close, still saves the spreadsheet

This seems like a pretty bad issue as it can (and has for me many times) result in data loss, that the user is not aware of. I only recently realized this happens. If you are working on a spreadsheet system, you may try many things while experimenting. Often, I find I want to close what I'm doing without saving, as the idea has gone off track and I want to go back to my starting state. The logical way to do this would be simply to close the chartbook, without saving. And you can do this, but what you won't be shown is that your spreadsheet still saves and overwrites the previous version. So when you reopen your chartbook, yes the .cht file is at the old state, but the spreadsheet is not, and you have lost work, possibly significant work. And it may not at all be immediately obvious that this has happened unless you look at the file modification times in Windows For now my workaround to this is to either: 1. Save the spreadsheet as a new file, with a new name, which causes the currently active chartbook to close the newly saved file, and re-open the original one. 2. Close the spreadsheet, which prompts with a "do you want to remove the studies related to this spreadsheet" message. I say yes to that, then close the chartbook without saving. Since at the moment of not saving there was no spreadsheet loaded, this results in it not being overwritten, however this only works if there is only a single spreadsheet system in the chartbook, referencing that sheet. I would expect to be asked on quit about saving not only the chartbook itself, but ANY open files the chartbook is referencing. I would like to suggest that this be addressed in an upcoming update. |

LOL How's that for timing... I've dealt with this for ages and only finally decided to post about it, and someone else did too within days. Glad it's being fixed.
