Hello SC-Community, I have one general questions. When I open the time and sales and make some settings there, I see bid and ask trades. Is a bid trade which is generally coloured 'blue' a trade where a limit buy order is filled (one trader buys contracts)? Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks in advance Max |

Usually this means a sell market order was matched with a buy limit order.

It is both. A trade consists of both a buy and sell order. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I also found this terminology and coloring to be very confusing especially regarding the DOM / Price Ladder. If you want to Buy something you place your orders on the Bid side. Buy/bid is usually associated with Green and prices going up. Selling is done on the Ask side of the DOM and is usually associated with RED and prices going down. However in the DOM: Chart >> Graphic Settings - Chart >> Trade DOM Cumulative Last Size Background Bid Trade, A red color is used (not that it makes sense) as the prices go down the background color is Red. The opposite for the Ask Trade; A Green color is used as the background turns green as prices move up. So, it is strange that you'd color Ask Trades Green on the DOM and Bid Trades Red on the DOM. |
