Lately I've experienced some discrepancy on my chart with a fellow trader.
We both have same version of SC, Denali + CQG and we are referring to exactely the same chartbook:

We noted that sometimes the VPOC and therefore the value areas of past days were pretty different from mine to his.

The only difference is that I keep my Sierra Chart switched on almost all day long, he, instead, open it at the end of the day and downloads data and trade the last part of the day.

If I delete and download the last contract (Edit > Delete all data and download) then my charts become exactly as his own chats with no discrepancy at all..

Some doubts jump on my mind:
1) do my Sierra Chart builds the local database with realtime data stored when the pc is on? (I suppose yes)
2) instead my fellow trader builds most of its local database downolading the Denali historical data (I suppose yes)
3) if both is YES is there a discrepancy from the 2 datas? it shouldn't...
4) do I miss something else? if not it's worring... which one is exact?

P.S. we still saw this discrepancy only with E-Mini S&P whith NQ still didn't find discrepancies

please let me know
regards

Are these variable time frame chart bars, like Number of Trades, Volume or Range?

yes we are talking of renko charts but:

1) already tryed all the things above
2) the 2 pc have the same chartbook and the same sierra settings
3) the point is if I delete and redownload data from your server the 2 pc show exactely the same chart, with tick precision, all the studies are exactely the same
4) the only discrepancy comes out when one of the 2 pc build the scid file with realtime data, when you delete the realtime stored data and download from your server then all the charts on all the pc are the same

When you notice the difference simply select Chart >> Reload and Recalculate and see if that makes the charts the same.

Ok I'll try, but in the past when I found the discrepancy, doing the right click on the chart > delete and download data didn't change anything, instead going in the Edit menĂ¹ > Delete all Data and Download, just for the latest contract, it changed the chart.

I really think that the scid file downloaded from your server is different from the one that builds in realtime on my pc, if there is a discrepancy which one do you think is correct? the one on your server? I think yes..

In this case every day when I load the charts I can re-download the latest contract....

but the point is... there shouldn't be any discrepancy between the two...

No it is not possible for there to be a discrepancy. Unless there is a problem, where you are losing the connection to the server from time to time and when there is a reconnection the historical data download is failing.
