I'm aware that you are very soon transitioning us to a new (and better) equities data feed, but still - There's one issue I noticed on the SC platform that sometimes exists on other, lower quality charting software, which I wish will not exist on the new data feed. As you can see on the attached screenshot, on the time & sales window (to the right of the SC chart) there's various price prints with less than 100 shares - Notice that none of them are printed on the chart (all red-highlightied time & sales prints should be visible on the chart between the two white lines representing the current Bid and Ask) Imagine a high priced stock like TSLA where prints of less than 100 shares are quite common, but none of them will show on the chart... Very confusing to say the least. I've seen stock prices move a couple points just by a large number of small size prints Most charting software do show these low size prints (e signal) and others completely omit them from the charts (trade station) Do you already know if this will be the case for the new data feed? |

The first question we have back is whether you are seeing a discrepancy between what is printed within the Sierra Chart Time and Sales and the Sierra Chart chart? This should be consistent. As to the missing data, particularly data that is tagged as "Odd Lot", the recommendation from the exchange is that this data should not be included in the bar data nor as part of the volume. Therefore, when this information is missing, it is due to the rules on how to put the data together from the exchange. We did work on adding an option for "Odd Lot" data to be considered, at one point, but it was not as simple as it should have been, so we had to put it aside. We can not say at this point whether we will have the option available with the NASDAQ TotalView exchange with the consolidated tape. Well, the answer is that SC time & sales doesn't even show odd lots... Which is something I didn't see in any of the major charting software. Even those that don't show the odd lots on the chart, show it on the tape (Tradestation, I just checked) I understand your position regarding the difficult implementation of odd lots but I also suggest to take into consideration the following - According to the Chicago Board Options Exchange, odd lots represented 54.8% of all trades in the U.S. financial markets as of October 2021, up from 43% at the start of 2020.
https://www.cboe.com/insights/posts/an-in-depth-view-into-odd-lots/Here's their conclusion in the end - Once considered an afterthought, odd lots are an integral and valuable part of today’s vibrant markets. This growing segment is a meaningful source of liquidity across all trading periods and stocks. The significant price improvement that odd lots represent on Cboe’s exchanges, and likely on other similar exchanges as well, should be displayed to all market participants.
They now understand that omitting odd lots just doesn't make sense anymore. Hiding odd lots is in fact hiding 50% of the volume which is the most important indicator for professional, profitable traders. Also, algos take advantage of this situation as it lets them send orders under the radar, without even using the "hidden" property. It seems like you already made a decision but I hope this information will give you more food for thought. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2022-11-10 18:31:20

Excellent point @funbun. Without odd lots, a consolidated tape isn't really consolidated... Please SC, with all the effort you're putting into this, please include odd lots in the upcoming consolidated tape.

We had consistently serious problems when working with odd lot trades because they cause out of range values. We will look at this again when we are working with the direct US equities feeds. But right now they are not going to be offered. Every time we tried to include them we would always create serious problems with corrupted chart displays.
