I am running the study subgraph subtraction/difference on my main chart and am creating it in chart region 2, I would like to now run a simple moving average on this data..ie the study subgraph is clculating the range of the day and have it plotting in chart region 2, i would like to run a simple average of that calculation and have it plot in chart region 2 as well...how do i do this...

Add the Moving Average study you want, set the Based On to the difference study, and se the Region to 2. Refer to the following items: Chart Studies: Settings and Inputs Tab >> Based On - Basing a Study on Another Study Chart Studies: Settings and Inputs Tab >> Chart Region For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

So I am a little concerned about data and info in SC.. I downloaded some data from my TPO chart...eash period open hi low....and did some calculations, I then downloaded some data froma 30 min chart and did the same calculations....I have found that hi and low for each 30 min period on the two sets of data do not match...for example on 8/12 data from tpo chart says that the high for the 930-1030 A&B period is 4258 yet on a 30 min chart the high is 4257...can you please explain why this difference is occuring....

Make sure the charts are setup exactly the same in terms of all other settings. The easiest way to do this is to duplicate the TPO chart, then remove the TPO and change to a 30 minute chart. Then do the comparison and see if you still have the difference. Otherwise, you would have to check every item, including Session Times, New Bar at Session Start, etc. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thank you, I am sorry for the confusion..I found out the rollover settings were different but I do have another question... I am creating a study subgraph of the initial balance range with a 30 day moving average - time period...I have also done this on a spreadsheet...for some reason the calc is showing a downturn for 11/10/2022 yet we are only 11/09/2022...when i hit apply the real results 44.52 displayes then quicky changes to 37.24 the line for the study turns down... I have attached the chartbook all you have to dois go into the studies to graph and click apply on "ID:3 rth Day Range 30 day avg (moving Average - time period) and you will see in the subgraph the value will change ... the correct amount is 44.52 |

The reason why you see one number when hit Apply and then it changes is because the study itself is updating the Subgraph information during the intermediate calculations. The final number that it shows is the correct one for this study. As to comparisons with other Moving Averages, particularly the Moving Average - Simple, the documentation makes the following statement: "It is not possible to compare the result of Moving Average - Time Period to the result of Moving Average-Simple. For example, on a Historical Daily Chart when using Moving Average - Time Period and it has a Length Input of 100, this is using 100 days but the actual time span of days the study is actually using due to weekends and nontrading days is actually significantly longer. Therefore, if you set Moving Average - Time Period to reference 100 days, it is going to be a different result at each chart bar."
