SC v1138 also crashed when I installed it today. I have rolled back to 1137 and SC opened correctly. I noticed the crash happened when calculating a study on chart 4 of the attached chartbook. I am running additional chartbooks at start up but believe the issue is with this one. I will send my other CB if required.

Hi
CB sent
now i'm thinking that there are some custom indicators that i'm testing ,
i sent dll also but maybe it's not useful because you need a sample chartbook ,do you?

We are not seeing a problem and we suspect this issue has to do with certain User Contributed Studies. So we are rebuilding those to see if that helps.

crazybears,

We tested your Chartbook and encountered no exceptions or abnormal shutdowns. We did not test the DLLs. we do not test those. If there is a problem caused by those which is causing an exception, the source code needs to be need to be recompiled for the latest version to create new DLLs.

Overall we found testing the Chartbook frustrating because it is a very very high CPU load Chartbook with the way that it is configured with various references between charts. Most of the time it was freezing the user interface under the debugger.

Hi

thanks , i'm sorry to have given you too much work , please accept my excuses
i know there are a lot of references among different charts and timeframe, but trust me i never encounter a problem to open and run them with SC ,also each new version has given more speed and stability.
just today I'm running v1137 from many hours made some tests compiled new dlls , never had an issue.
next time , hoping there won't be :) , i try to load a basic chartbook and debug my DLLs before posting.

thanks again
Max :)

We are not sure why there is a problem, but we suspect if you recompile your source code into new DLLs for the latest version that will work. Maybe there is some inadvertent change we caused which is causing a problem.

Or if there continues to be a problem, then we need a simple example to replicate this.

Hi

i think issue was located on custom study , i recompiled and all works fine now .
custom study that cause freezing seems to be scanABVDT3
i saw on log before the freezing that scanABVDT has caused an unhandled exception ...

Hi Sierra Chart Engineering,

The study I contributed can be used as an example : ECIVwap.

The DLL (+ code) I sent and use worked with V1137 and prior versions.

The DLL does not seem to work anymore with SC 1143.
When a chart is loaded with the indicator SC freezes. No logs.

When the code is recompiled with V1143 (no code change), the DLL works again.

We finally recognize the reason for the problem.

We will have to decide how to best to handle this.

If we revert the change that is causing the problem, then anyone who has updated to the prerelease versions and is using the VAPContainer code, will have to recompile again. This may very will be what we will have to do.
