Dear SC support,
I'm working in a prop firm where I have the chance to use a dedicated ultrafast connection for the trading software as opposed to a normal internet line for the charts.
I use already two different istances: one for the charts and one for the DOMs.
I need to know the IP of the instance with the DOMs to direct all its traffic to the super fast connection: is there a way to know or even to set the specific IP address for a single instance?
I've tried to look into the message log but I see 127.0.0.1 for every chart, DOMs included.
If I want to be able to put the DOMs on the dedicated line, that instance must have a different IP from the normal charts because they will not allow me to use the fast connection for the charts.

Regards,

Andrea

IP Addresses are assigned to a computer, not to individual software.

To find the IP address that your computer is using for the Internet (which could be (and most likely is) different from the actual computer's IP Address) go a Google search for "What's my IP". It will return the Internet IP Address of that system.

127.0.0.1 is a special IP address that is the Loopback for the local machine. It is a way to talk to the machine without having to go across the full network. All computers have this same address for this purpose, so this is not a valid IP for external purposes.

The local IP address, 127.0.0.1, would be used with sub instances and those are always going to connect to the main instance of Sierra Chart . There is not going to be any performance benefit trying to change this.

If you need to redirect a particular domain Sierra Chart is connecting to, that has to be done outside of Sierra Chart and can be done through the operating system.

Thank you again for your answer.
I'm not a computer expert and Englsh is not my language so I will try to explain better the situation and my need.

On the trading floor we have 2 dfferent internet lines: one for the execution softwares only (TT, Stellar, CQG and so on) and the other for all the rest, from web browsing to the charting sw.
They allocate the traffic based on the IP but, in my particular situation, charts and doms go to the same IP (I am the only one in the office using Sierra for the execution; other guys use it for the charts only).

Do you know if there's a way I can differentiate between the two istances IPs so that I can put the istance with the doms on the fastest line and separate it from the bulk of the charting traffic we are generating here?

Regards

That is not something that is done through our software. That is being done by your Information Technology people. You would have to talk to them about setting you up such that Sierra Chart information flows through a particular IP.

You need to look at the main instance of Sierra Chart and check the Window >> Message Log and see what addresses are being connected to and then give those to your IT department to reroute them as required.
