Hi there, Is it possible to see which charts are using resources? I've just set up a new machine (Dual Xeon, 32GB Ram) and for some reason I'm getting really high memory usage on a fresh install. I also notice crashreporter.exe in every instance. |

No, you cannot tell the memory usage for an individual chart. Yes the crash reporter does run in the background. It does not cause any harm. It is there in the extremely rare event we need to capture some information related to an abnormal shutdown. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Is there a way to identify the instance? Since in Task manager it doesnt refer to the specific instance. That way I can perhaps deduce what charts are actually causing this as it seems to cause a lag.

Yes the Windows Task Manager definitely has a column that you can add to show the complete path to the executable.

I'm also having the same issue. Opening Sierra in safe mode without any chartbooks opened on startup, Sierra is using in excess of 20GB of RAM. It will respond within 2 or 3 minutes, and allow me to open charts. It also has a black background instead of the standard gray background before opening any charts. This has become an increasingly worse problem in the last two or three days. |

Exit from Sierra Chart and go to the folder Sierra Chart is installed to. Go to the \TradeActivityLogs subfolder and delete all of the files in there. If you need the files, then make a copy of those first but delete the files. Update Sierra Chart to the current version: Software Download: Fast Update And then set this setting to 30: Global Trade Settings Windows: Automatically Delete Trade Activity Log Files on Startup Older than Days (Global Settings >> General Trade Settings >> General >> Trade Activity) Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. None of these worked. What *did* work was something you didn't mention - the OrderFillsToSend.data was 12 GB! I deleted it and now everything works. :)

We are well aware that file may have been the issue and that file is contained in the \TradeActivityLogs folder. And it would have been deleted because we said: Go to the \TradeActivityLogs subfolder and delete all of the files in there.
So where was that file located? Also if you update Sierra Chart, you would not have this problem either. You are running an older version of Sierra Chart. You are running an older version of Sierra Chart.
At the moment, I can't upgrade, because I have 700 older older study collections that have to be loaded and re-saved to work on newer versions of SC. Is there some sort of tool that would do this automatically? |
