Hi i am using data coming from Denali exchange and im using interactive brokers as my broker to place trades When i load a symbol-NQTV data comes in and loads. when i try to place a trade i get an error unless i manually change the chart settings trade only symbol to use SYMBOL-STK-SMART-USD as mentioned in the setup i would like to change all the symbols that load with -NQTV to use the correct symbol-STK-SMART-USD trade formart

One way to make sure that you have the Trade and Current Quote Symbol setup for a chart is to duplicate an existing chart that is setup this way and then modify the Chart Settings for the new symbol. But, if you want to have the Trade and Current Quote Symbol regardless of how you are changing the symbol, then you would need to create Symbol Settings for each instrument and then enter the Trade and Current Quote Symbol in the Symbol Settings for each instrument. this doesnt solve my problem as i would have to do this every time i trade a new stock. As a momentum trader by the time i do all for every stock iam about to trade i will miss the trade. i use the same chart for multiple symbols having to change this for every symbol every time isn't gonna work for me

You would need to do the second item we mentioned, which would be to setup the symbols for the stocks you are going to trade, this way when you change symbols your "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" will change as well. i have already done this for a few symbols and it works fine, the problem is that i trade different symbols everyday , stocks based on momentum , is it possible to Make a custom symbol to match , i tryed but cant get it to work i tryed using Symbol Pattern Characters [Link] - [Top] The following characters can be used for pattern matching: * = any character ~ = any character(s) of any length (can be more than 1 character) ? = any alphabetical character # = any digit. forgive me iam new to sierrachart thanks in advance Date Time Of Last Edit: 2022-08-04 22:17:23

The pattern matching in this case will not work, as it is only setup for futures contracts to determine the contract letter and year. We understand that it can be a lot of work, but the only option is to modify, or create, the symbol settings and set the "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" in that setting for each stock that you will trade.
