Chart - Calculate study or use Study/Price Overlay

As a general rule is it better (faster) to have a chart calculate it's own study eg. moving averages, pivots etc. Or faster/performance wise to have say a single daily chart calculate all the studies and have all other charts use Study/Price Overlay?
