Dear Support Team,

I would like to run multiple instances of Sierra Chart at the same time because I´m using a multi-monitor setup.
My clearing firm is IB and I´m using Sierra Charts data feed.
I am able to connect to IB with 2 instances (using a seperate Client ID for each) but not getting updates from your data feed for both, only for the first connection.
Here is the logfile massage from the second instance of Sierra Chart:

You need to use the feature to share chart data between installed copies of Sierra Chart:

http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/MultipleServices.html#Sharing

In the second copy of Sierra Chart you will need to uncheck the option:
Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >>Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds

I followed the steps carefully but am not able to get the recent bid/ask volume traded at each price in my DOM in the destination copy of Sierra Chart!
My source copy is connected to IB using Sierra Charts real time data feed. In the destiantion copy in the title bar it says [R], even in the DOM.
I get this error message from IB:

Requesting market depth updates for: DAX-201406-DTB if supported. | 2014-05-08 10:34:39
Message from IB: Dieses aufgerufene Marktdaten Packet haben Sie nicht abonniert.Error&DTB/FUT/Top&DTB/FUT/Top. IB Error Code: 354. Request ID: 4. Symbol: DAX-201406-DTB. | 2014-05-08 10:34:39

Message from IB: Ungültige Echtzeit Abrage:No market data permissions for DTB FUT. IB Error Code: 420. Request ID: 134858812. | 2014-05-08 10:34:40
Message from IB: Dieses aufgerufene Marktdaten Packet haben Sie nicht abonniert.Error&DTB/FUT/Deep. IB Error Code: 354. Request ID: 100004. | 2014-05-08 10:34:40

I have attached a picture from the destination copy where you can see that I´m getting market depth from Sierra Charts data feed as well as the historical volume traded but not the actual volume traded at the bid and ask price.

Thank you!

Due to how this data is implemented, it does not transfer across instances of Sierra Chart.

Ok, that´s bad. It would be helpful if we could detach a hole chartbook instead of a single chart only to make a better usage of a multi-monitor setup.

i also run multiple instances of SC as a way of managing multiple chartbooks across multiple monitors. If i could detach a 'chartbook' instead of a window, it would be very nice.

Perhaps you could consider this for a future update? Thank you!

We will have to see, but it is not anything to expect any time soon.

Agree with this request. A detachable chartbook would be a great feature to have

OK, but do not look for something like this from us until next year.

Is there an update on this? Having workbooks open side by side on dual monitors is what I have come to expect from charting applications. So many traders use multiple time frame analysis and this would be a typical setup.

Regarding a detachable Chartbook, the decision is that will not be supported in Sierra Chart.

Instead, there will be an easy way to automatically launch a new instance of Sierra Chart from the main running instance and it will access the main running instance for market data and trading using the new DTC Protocol server. We have nothing further to say in this thread and this thread is now locked.

This new functionality is expected to be released sometime in the next two months. It will accomplish the same objective.
