my last post may have been a mistake. this is my trading account. i was getting strange fills with 1130. i bought a contract, then when i went to exit it, it didn't exit, but added another contract. i tried to use the flatten button, but that added another contract. finally i was able to get out. in the trade activity log, i got a lot of unmatched fills. i contacted amp, and according to them i am $175 difference with their profit/loss and what the sierra chart program says. i would like to use version 1130. do i need to send any other info to you? when you get time, can you reply to this or email me. but i went back to version 1128. which seems to work ok. |

We do see a problem with 1130 and AMP TT Net with real-time position calculations for sell orders. In 1130 the way that the Trade Position is calculated by Sierra Chart is from real-time fill events. It does not use what the server provides any longer. We are releasing 1131 now which corrects this. For a real-time fill, the position quantity would always increase whether the fill was a buy or sell. It is important and good practice, especially when using TT FIX or AMP TT Net, that you confirm that the position that you see in Sierra Chart is actually correct. If you use the Flatten command, it is going to flatten what it thinks is the position but if it is not correct, then the wrong order quantity and order side will be sent. 1. so everything should be ok with version 31? i never had a problem with sierra chart/amp until today, and i wouldn't want it to happen again when i try to trade again real time. 2. when you say "confirm position", do you mean with amp? or is there a way to confirm a position within sierra chart? |

1. It should be, but the problem is we cannot completely test this because we do not have access to a live AMP account. The main problem that existed was an obvious mistake in one part of the code with updating the Trade Position from real-time fills. This is fixed. While we did do testing, we were testing only with buy orders and making sure the position was correct upon a reconnect. Actually, if you reconnected to the server, the Trade Position Quantity would correct itself on version 1130 and 1129. If there still is a problem it would be with carrying forward of the overnight position but this has been a problem anyway so it would not be anything new. In general, you should always be careful with using Flatten on a TT FIX system. This is not the first time there have been issues with this. TT FIX adapters are known in many cases to not provide overnight positions from the standard position reports. 2. The basic way to confirm that the position is to simply do the calculation yourself based upon the order quantities and the buy/sell side for the orders entered. If the position is wrong, the worst thing that you can do is press Flatten. The thing to do is to take a moment, do the calculations and confirm your position with the broker. You can see all of your orders in Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >> Orders. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users.
