Hi,

I see that "In the case of the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service, the data for a Daily bar is for 24 hours of trading", according to https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SessionTimes.php. However, I only see a quarter of the 24 hours of data (6.5 hour regular session) per day with gaps. How do I get 24 hour data that included pre- and post-market trading? I would ideally like to see "24 hours" of data for the major indices (e.g. $NASX, $NYA). My start time is set to 0 and my end time to 23:59:59 for indices, but for some stocks, the "User Evening Session" is read only.

Regards,
Chris

The indices only have data for the regular trading hours. They do not have 24 hours of data. Therefore, you are not missing anything.

But, if you want to have real-time data for the indices, then you would want to use our Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed which has data for the major indices. Refer to the information at the following link, which also includes Setup Instructions:

To clarify, you only provide index data for 25% (6.5 rth / 24 hours) of the trading time, considering CBOE allows for nearly 24 hour day trading on SPX? What prevents you from providing the other 75% of trading time? That seems to be a major gap. Is there a way to construct composite symbols or our own indices through your software to make up for this lack of reporting?

We do not agree with your conclusions and therefore, there is no answer here. We cannot comment on this further. This thread is locked.

Refer to:
Custom Calculated Symbols

However, we do not think this is going to meet your requirements for an index with a large number of symbols.
