Dear Sierra Support: I use Numbers Bars a lot. Please consider the following request which, I believe, is a more simple and direct method to display diagonal dominance differences for certain purposes. The purpose here is to make it easier to read the net strength of initiative buying vs selling around a given price in a fast moving market. It is based on the currently available “Background Coloring Based on Diagonal Dominant AskVol BidVol Difference - Actual”. Instead of considering the absolute values of the “Bid Diagonal Difference” and “Ask Diagonal Difference” the suggestion is to use the signed values (without taking absolute values) in the following way. If the signs are identical use UpColors when both are positive and DownColors when both are negative. These 2 cases indicate strong initiative buying (when both positive) or strong initiative selling (when both negative) around the given price. These cases correspond exactly to what Sierra documentation calls “exclusively dominant”. However, when the signs are different I would like to suggest adding the signed values together. If the result is positive then use an UpColor. If the result is negative then use a DownColor. Although there is initiative buying in one direction but initiative selling in the opposite direction the sum of the signed values could still significantly favor one direction over the other (and therefore one of UpColor or DownColor depending on the sign of the net value). If the result is 0,then, use the background color. In fact, the sum of the signed diagonal differences could be used in all four cases to measure the direction and intensity of initiative buying or selling around the given price for (1) Compare Thresholds, (2) as a text display option and (3) possibly also as a profile background type. |
