I am trying to extend data in an ES intraday chart back to a certain date in March of 2020. Since I'm using back adjusted continuous contract setting, I would not have thought this would be an issue, but the data in file indicator starts with a date in March of 2021. Can you indicate why this is the case? Thanks

The date in the Chart >> Chart Settings >> Date Range From is only reflecting the information in the file for the front contract. You do not need to adjust this. Just set the number of days, or the date range for the chart, to what you need. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Adjust Proportional With Bar Period (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Load Data Limiting Method: Days to Load menu)
