Hi i was wondering if somebody could help understand when CME is open, i want to trade micro emini s&p 500 futures and i cant figure our the trading hours. is the futures market open 24/7? or is the futuresmarket open only monday to friday ? and does the futures market have afterhours trading session and pre market trading session? i live in sweden, and i would appreciate if somebody could help me understand when cme is open. |

Different CME Group products have different trading hours. To find the trading hours for a particular product, do the following: 1. Go go cmegroup.com 2. Click the search icon near top right of that page. 3. Type in the product's symbol -- e.g. for E-Mini S&P500 you'd type ES; for E-Micro S&P500 you'd type MES. 4. Amongst the search results should be one that includes the words "Contract Specs". For MES you'd be brought to this page: https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/equities/sp/micro-e-mini-sandp-500.contractSpecs.html |

Ah, right. Clearport is for large organizations to make OTC (off-exchange non-electronic) very large trades. Globex is on-exchange electronic trading. Because the micro E-Mini is intended for small traders all the trades volume is on Globex: https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/equities/sp/micro-e-mini-sandp-500.volume.html Even in standard size contracts, like Crude Oil, the vast majority of trades are electronic through Globex. On Fri, the 18th, 1,215,959 traded on Globex with just 23,963 on Clearport: https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/energy/crude-oil/light-sweet-crude.volume.html Retail trading platforms such as Sierra Charts always use Globex symbols for charting and trading. |
