Hello,

I subscribed to the new NASDAQ Total View Data Feed and data is coming in perfectly. I upgraded Sierra Chart to the most recent version, and followed this for Interactive brokers:

Follow the instructions here to update the Symbol Settings:
Global Symbol Settings: Update Global Symbol Settings

But when I place an order I now get: Error validating request 'bN': cause - Missing order exchange.

I also allowed support for Sierra Chart data feed under common settings and reconnected a couple of times.

Can you please help me with this?

Since you have to use the symbol format of "????-NQTV" to get the NASDAQ TotalView data from us, then you would have to use the Trade and Current Quote Symbol to enter the Interactive Brokers symbol. Refer to the following:
Chart Settings: Trade and Current Quote Symbol (text box) (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol menu)

You will also want to enable the option for Use as Trade Only Symbol.

Also, refer to the following for the Interactive Brokers Stock Symbol Format:
Interactive Brokers Symbols: Stock Format

For example, for Microsoft, you would have the Symbol set to MSFT-NQTV and then you would have the Trade and Current Quote Symbol set to MSFT-STK-SMART-USD.

Hola John, hay alguna posibilidad de que al poner el simbolo MSFT-NQTV en el chart, automaticamente el sistema use MSFT-STK-SMART-USD para introducir las ordenes sin necesidad de hacerlo manualmente?

Gracias por adelantado

Yes you can set the Trade and Current Quote Symbol in the Global Symbol Settings for the -NQTV symbol:

For example, if I want to see the data of WDC-nqtv but I want to put the order in the ticket WDC-STK-SMART/NYSE-USD. In which section should I configure that. So as not to have to modify the ticket to enter the order every time I change the ticket?

On the Chart Settings dialog, enter WDC-NQTV in the Symbol field and WDC-STK-SMART/NYSE-USD in the Trade and Current Quote Symbol field.

For the Symbol Settings, it is just a matter of entering WDC-STK-SMART/NYSE-USD in the Trade and Current Quote Symbol entry for the WDC-NQTV symbol.

Hello, I have set the Trade/Quote Symbol setting to -STK-SMART-USD for all the wild card -NQTV symbols (*-NQTV, **-NQTV, etc.)

However, there appear to be hundreds of specific -NQTV symbol settings (AAPL-NQTV, MSFT-NQTV, etc.) that take precedence over the wildcard settings rendering these mappings basically worthless.

Is there anyway to go about this without having to update hundreds of individual symbol settings by hand?

Changing it in the Wildcard section will not work. You would end up with just the information you entered in the Symbol Settings for any stock that does not have existing symbol settings. For example, if you were to open a chart for the stock "VSTO-NQTV", then the Trade and Current Quote Symbol would show -STK-SMART-USD and not have the actual stock ticker in the front.

Therefore, you pretty much have to setup the mapping for any stock that you are going to trade with Interactive Brokers and create symbol settings for any that are not specifically listed already.

Hi User,

I made a custom study which automatically changes any Denali symbol’s Trade & Quote symbol to the correct IB symbol.

See this thread with instructions to install:
