Hi, I have a brokerage account with IB and have connected the exchange to Sierra. However, every time I load up a stock i get an error message 'symbol is unknown - the contract description specified for PYPL is ambigious; you must specify the currency'. Please can you clarify what this means? Thanks |

It means that you need to use a more explicit symbol for Interactive Brokers - you can not just specify the instrument, but you need to give additional information in the symbol. In particular, you will probably want to use the Complete Stock Symbol Format as it is specified at this link: Interactive Brokers Symbols: Stock Format But in the end, you should really ask Interactive Brokers what they require.
