Trying to change the Trading DOM settings-to start was trying to change column backgrounds.. Doing thru Chart and Graphic Settings and have use Global Settings unchecked. Background settings do not seem to be taking.

Did you try changing the "Trade DOM" settings and not the "Chart DOM" settings?

Notice to the right of that color setting where it says "Enable". Enable that checkbox. And yes you would need to use the Trade DOM equivalent setting as well.
