Is it possible to have two different colors in rectangles?
I often want to draw, say
a blue one
two red ones,
then a blue one again.
Changing this over the "tool config" is quite cumbersome
Any alternatives?

Yes. You can create Control Bar buttons that consist of both a particular drawing tool and a configuration, up to 24 configurations. Documentation:

Each configuration would use a different color in your case.

Colors, control bars, and global settings are in the file named 'Sierra4.config' (no quotes). Refer to the information in the following section for what the different files have in them:
