I had this problem before, and was able to correct it by going into the Chart Settings> Edit Global Symbol Settings, and adding two additional zeros to the right of the decimal point, when trading the USDJPY. Today, in the GBPJPY, I tried the same thing and it changed my small loss of a dollar something into a profit of over $1800. 1) Why is it not possible to get the symbol to calculate correctly as it comes from the server without editing? 2) If it isn't, can you help me come up with a fix? My performance reports are so screwy whenever I trade any JPY pair. Thanks. |

We are not quite sure what the problem you are describing is. We need a more precise example. What specific profit/loss value you are you looking at? And then we need more details about the prices it is calculated from. I just opened a USDJPY chart, went to SIM, and took a .01 lot trade. Notice in the P&L on the chart trade box it says the trade is negatove $14.99. That is not the correct dollar value. The correct negative for that trade should be $0.149. It does that with every pair that crosses with the JPY. If I have a $100 win, thte P&L calculates it as a $10,000 win. The issue this morning, I have no idea. It showed a loss, which it was, I changed the "Edit Global Symbols to get the decimal place correct, and then it showed an $1800 win. That was unique, and I am not so concerned with that. The issue is, all JPY pairs put the currency decimal poinmt in the wrong place unless I edit the Global Symbol setting. |

I am guessing it is because JPY pairs are the only ones that only extend 3 decimal places to the right of the decimal point (1.000), all other pairs extend 5 places to the right (1.00000). Somewhere in Sierra's math, it is not accounting for this as the problme is with every JPY pair, i.e. GBPJPY, USDJPY, etc.

One thing we will comment on is the chart is set to show the profit/loss as a Point value. Not as a USD currency value. For us to better help with this problem, update Sierra Chart to the latest version. In the case of the profit/loss calculations in a chart, in the later versions there is only reliance on the settings within the chart and not the Global Symbol Settings. Two image files are attached. One is a screenshot of Sierra showing a GBPJPY chart and Chart Settings, with losing trade entry and exit markers. Note the $285 loss stated in both the Chart Trade window and in the indicator "Trading Profit and Loss Text". The 2nd image is from the FXCM broker account statement for the same trades.
